Getting back at night

For a match ending around 23:00, use Campo Grande (Yellow and Green) or Telheiras (Green): the Metro closes at 01:00 every day and trains can be boarded until then. The Green line runs straight to Baixa-Chiado and Cais do Sodré, the Yellow line to Marquês de Pombal and Rato. There is no published match-night timetable.

Match ends at 23:00Walk to Campo Grande and take the Green or Yellow line before the Metro closes at 01:00; the last train from the station is earlier than 01:00 and its time is not published, and no match-night extension is announced. Past 01:00, Carris night buses (Rede da Madrugada, about 23:30 to 05:35) leave from Cais do Sodré: line 207 serves Campo Grande on its way to Fetais, and Carris lists 206 toward Odivelas. Take the Metro first if you can; the night buses leave from the centre, not from the stadium.

Last services

Metro Green line Campo Grande → Baixa-Chiado / Cais do Sodré not published Metro de Lisboa: opens at 06:30, closes at 01:00 every day, and trains can be boarded until 01:00. The exact last train from Campo Grande is not published, so assume it leaves before 01:00. [source]
Metro Yellow line Campo Grande → Marquês de Pombal / Rato not published Same network hours as the Green line (closing at 01:00); the last departure from Campo Grande is not published. The Yellow line also reaches Odivelas to the north. [source]
Metro Green line Telheiras → Campo Grande / Baixa-Chiado / Cais do Sodré not published The end of the Green line, a walk from the stadium; trains start here, so you board before the crowd. Last departure not published. [source]
Night bus 207 Campo Grande → Cais do Sodré not published Carris Rede da Madrugada line 207 links Cais do Sodré and Fetais through Rossio, Marquês de Pombal, Saldanha, Campo Pequeno and Campo Grande. Its page shows departures through the small hours (for example 00:30, 01:00, 01:30 and 02:00) but the two directions could not be told apart, so check the line's timetable. [source]

Queues at the station

Expect a crowded platform at Campo Grande, where Metro put extra staff on Sporting match days in 2023. Telheiras, on the Green line, is the alternative if Campo Grande is overloaded; on big nights Metro has run special shuttle buses to and from Campo Grande, announced for each match.

If you miss it

If the Metro has closed, take a taxi or an app ride from outside the streets next to the stadium, or get to Cais do Sodré and use the Carris night network; the 207 stops at Campo Grande.

How a visitor gets a ticket

General sale

Sporting sells match tickets through its official ticket portal, and members get a discount. We found member-only phases for Champions League games and member priority for away matches, but no general restriction for a league home match, so a tourist can buy without joining. Matches against Benfica or Porto may be harder; that is not confirmed.

Buy only from the Sporting portal or at the Gate 5 ticket office on match days (open from 10:00 until the start of the second half). Portuguese law punishes unauthorized ticket sales, and the club does not mention an official resale market on the pages we read.

Official channels only

We never link unofficial resellers: tickets bought there are cancelled at the gate, and in the UK reselling football tickets without the club’s authorisation is a criminal offence.

Getting there

Public transport

Campo Grande (Yellow and Green lines) is the station Sporting lists for the stadium; Metro de Lisboa names Campo Grande and Telheiras (Green line) as the nearest stations. Sporting also lists buses 717, 736, 767, 706, 747, 750, 778, 796 and 798.

  1. From Baixa-Chiado or Rossio, the Green line goes straight to Campo Grande (via Alameda, Areeiro, Roma and Alvalade); the Yellow line reaches it from Rato, Marquês de Pombal, Saldanha and Campo Pequeno.
  2. Telheiras is the next stop on the Green line past Campo Grande, and Metro lists it as the second station for Sporting matches.
  3. On match days the ticket office is at Gate 5 and opens at 10:00; the stadium tour and museum meet at Gate 12.

Driving and parking

Sporting lists the car and taxi/ride-hailing options without giving parking details, so there is no club-confirmed place to park. The stadium sits by the 2.ª Circular ring road (exit 'Estádio de Alvalade'); expect busy roads around kick-off and use the Metro instead.

Taxi and ride-hailing apps

Sporting lists taxis and ride-hailing (TVDE) as arrival options, with no rank or pick-up point named. Uber and Bolt are licensed operators in Portugal. Ask the driver to meet you away from the streets next to the stadium.

Bags and documents

The Sporting pages we could read do not list prohibited items or a bag size limit. Treat it as a security search: leave bags at the hotel and carry only what you need. The club's customer line is 707 204 444, open on match days until the second half starts.

Documents: Sporting's pages do not say whether an ID is checked at the gate. Carry your passport or national ID in case staff ask for it, as they would for a named ticket.

Where to stay

Area Why
Campo Grande / Telheiras Walking distance to the stadium, with the Green and Yellow lines. It is outside the old centre, and the Metro closes at 01:00.
Alvalade / Areeiro / Alameda On the Green line, a few stops from Campo Grande, and Alameda is where the Red line from the airport joins it.
Baixa-Chiado / Rossio The Green line runs from here to Campo Grande without a change. Carris night buses start at the nearby Cais do Sodré.
