Getting back at night

Metro 54 and NS trains from the stadium stops are the way back, and GVB's regular day network runs until about 00:30 (not an exact last-train time, see below). No match-night last departure is published for either, so for a match that ends at 23:00 do not count on the last metro: leave straight away. After 00:30 only night buses run, and the stadium's own site only promises extra metros and longer trains for concerts, not for football.

Match ends at 23:00Match ends at 23:00: walk to Strandvliet or Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA and take metro 54 towards Amsterdam Centraal. GVB's visitor information says trams, metro and buses run until about 00:30, so there is roughly an hour and a half of margin if you leave at once, but no source publishes the last metro or the match-night extras. NS runs night trains (nachtnet) on the Schiphol – Bijlmer ArenA – Utrecht line, but whether they run on your night depends on engineering works: check the NS planner before the match. Between about 00:30 and 07:00 the GVB night buses N85 and N87 stop at Station Bijlmer ArenA and run to the city centre (GVB night map, March 2026). Night buses need a separate night ticket on top of the OVpay check-in.

Metro 54 Strandvliet / Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA → Amsterdam Centraal not published GVB says metro runs until about 00:30 on regular nights; no exact last metro from the stadium is published. Extra metros after matches are reported by the press but not confirmed by GVB. Stations can get crowded after big matches. [source]
Train NS Sprinter / Intercity / nachtnet Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA → Amsterdam Centraal, Utrecht Centraal, Schiphol not published Trains stop at Bijlmer ArenA, next to the stadium. A trade-press report describes a night train from Schiphol via Bijlmer ArenA to Utrecht Centraal; the pattern depends on works, so confirm in the NS planner. No match-night last train is published. [source]
Night bus N85 Station Bijlmer ArenA → Amsterdam Centraal (via Weesperplein, Rembrandtplein, Dam) not published Night bus between Gein and Centraal Station that stops at Station Bijlmer ArenA. It runs only when the day network is closed (about 00:30 to 07:00). The frequency is not published on the map; GVB's own app shows the departures. [source]
Night bus N87 Station Bijlmer ArenA → Amsterdam Centraal not published Second night line that stops at Station Bijlmer ArenA, on the same GVB night map. Both N85 and N87 can be diverted for works in the centre; check the GVB app on the night. [source]

Queues at the station

Expect long waits at the metro after a full house: Amsterdam press has reported GVB staff describing the stations as overcrowded after big European nights. Walking to the second station (Strandvliet or Bijlmer ArenA, whichever you did not use on the way in) is the simplest way to avoid the biggest crowd. Car parks close about 2 hours after the event ends, so drivers also queue to exit.

If you miss it

If the metro has stopped, use the N85 or N87 night bus from Station Bijlmer ArenA to Centraal (after about 00:30), or order a ride: pre-booked taxis and apps pick up at De Entree, street taxis at the lane near the 'white bridge'. The stadium has a hotel next door (the Visit Ajax package uses Jaz in the City) if you would rather sleep nearby.

How a visitor gets a ticket

In practice members only

Every Eredivisie home match requires a verified Ajax account, and some also require the Ajax Club Card, a paid digital card that gives access to all ticket sales subject to availability. All 2026/27 season tickets are sold out, and the listed home matches show 'sold out' with Ajax's own Resale open. Priority runs season-ticket holders, then Supporters Association members, then Club Card holders. A tourist who can verify the account (iDIN, or an identity document in the app) and applies for the Club Card well before the match can try the official shop and Resale, with no guarantee. The Club Card is not available to anyone who already holds a Club Card or membership at another Dutch professional club.

Ajax calls resale at inflated prices through unofficial channels 'black market' and warns that tickets can end up with people whose identity is unknown. Buy only from the Ajax shop or Ajax Resale; Ajax Resale is the official way to buy the last tickets of a sold-out match. Visit Ajax packages were sold out for the matches listed and are not available this season.

Official channels only

We never link unofficial resellers: tickets bought there are cancelled at the gate, and in the UK reselling football tickets without the club’s authorisation is a criminal offence.

Getting there

Public transport

Two stations serve the ground, both a few minutes' walk away: the metro stop Strandvliet and Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA, which has both metro and NS trains. From Amsterdam Centraal, metro line 54 takes about 15 minutes. Plan the route on 9292.nl, NS or GVB, or on the stadium's own mobility portal, which lets you pick a match.

  1. Metro: line 54 (Centraal to Gein) stops at Strandvliet, from where Ajax gives a 5-minute walk to the stadium.
  2. Train: NS runs to Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station, next to the stadium. Use the NS planner for your direction and for engineering works.
  3. You pay with OVpay (contactless card or phone) or an OV-chipkaart; the stadium's own page sends you to NS or GVB for tickets.
  4. The stadium opens 1.5 hours before kick-off.

Driving and parking

Possible, but book a space first: the stadium tells visitors to reserve parking in advance to be sure of a spot near the ground. The nearest car park, P1, is directly under the stadium.

Taxi and ride-hailing apps

Taxis and app rides use separate pick-up points. Since March 2026 Amsterdam has been phasing in a digital geofence around the stadium so that taxis cannot accept rides inside the event area without a confirmed booking. The stadium announced it as an introductory period for two weeks in March 2026, so check the signs and the stadium's event news for the current layout.

Bags and documents

Bags larger than A4 are not allowed and there is no storage inside the stadium. Lockers are available around the stadium at Lockerpoint. You can only pay inside by card or phone.

Documents: Your ticket is a mobile ticket in the official Ajax app, tied to a verified Ajax account: without a Dutch bank (iDIN) you verify by scanning an identity document in the app. The pages read do not state a photo-ID check at the gate. Mobile tickets appear in the app one to two weeks before the match (Ajax gives both figures) and can be shared with other Ajax fans up to three times.

Where to stay

Area Why
Amsterdam Zuidoost, next to the stadium The Visit Ajax package uses the Jaz in the City hotel right next to the stadium, so you walk back and skip the metro after a late finish.
Amsterdam Centraal / city centre Metro 54 links Centraal with the stadium in about 15 minutes, and the Schiphol train arrives here. After about 00:30 you depend on the N85 or N87 night bus.
Duivendrecht Metro 54 also stops at Duivendrecht, so it is a quicker ride home than from the centre, with the same limit: the day network ends about 00:30.
