Getting to Madrid by train

Getting back at night

Metro Line 7 is the way out, and it is open until 01:30. Metro de Madrid and the Comunidad have reinforced Line 7 (up to 64% more trains in 2019, up to 67% in 2021) and kept spare trains ready on Line 5 for matches. No búho (night bus) is listed at the stadium, so after 01:30 you need a taxi or ride-hailing app.

Match ends at 23:00A 21:00 kick-off ends around 23:00, which leaves you two and a half hours before the station accesses close at 01:30. Go straight to Estadio Metropolitano: Line 7 is reinforced after the match, and in 2017 Metro announced trains every three minutes and room for about 25,000 passengers in 45 minutes. Buy your return ticket before the match, as Metro recommends, to avoid the machine queue. If the station is full, walk to Las Rosas (Line 2, about 10 minutes) or take the EMT special bus to Canillejas (Line 5), which runs until 90 minutes after the end of the event. The exact time of the last train on Line 7 is not published.

Queues at the station

There is no official figure for queues at Estadio Metropolitano. For scale: Metro said in 2017 that Line 7 could move up to 25,000 people in 45 minutes, and Lines 2 and 5 together could carry up to 50,000 in an hour. Metro adds station and security staff at the stadium for big matches and asks people to buy return tickets in advance.

If you miss it

After 01:30 no Metro runs. We found no búho listed at the stadium, so take a taxi from the stops on Calle Suecia or near Plaza de Grecia, or book a ride-hailing car a few streets away. The EMT night network (búhos) starts from Cibeles, but which line, if any, passes near the stadium was not confirmed: check the EMT app before the match.

How a visitor gets a ticket

General sale

A tourist can buy like anyone else. The club's official ticket shop shows general sale for the League and Champions League matches. For the highest-demand ties, such as Champions League semi-finals, the club gives members absolute priority with a longer presale and opens to the public only if seats remain. Season-ticket holders who skip a match can hand their seat back to the club, which resells it.

Buy only from the club's own ticket shop. Atlético has no fan-to-fan resale platform that we could confirm, and tickets bought elsewhere can be refused at the gate.

Official channels only

We never link unofficial resellers: tickets bought there are cancelled at the gate, and in the UK reselling football tickets without the club’s authorisation is a criminal offence.

Getting there

Public transport

Take Metro Line 7 to Estadio Metropolitano, the station next to the stadium. Line 7 starts at Pitis, runs through Avenida de América (also Lines 4, 6 and 9) and ends here; the three station entrances open from 06:00 to 01:30. On match days Metro reinforces Lines 7, 5 and 2 from about two hours before kick-off.

  1. Metro to Avenida de América (Lines 4, 6, 7, 9), then Line 7 eastbound to Estadio Metropolitano. The line continues east to Coslada only after a change of train (MetroEste, Line 7B).
  2. The station has three accesses: Avenida de Arcentales, and Calle de Estocolmo 91 (stairs and lift). The station is accessible, with escalators and a lift.
  3. Alternatives on foot: Las Rosas (Line 2) is about 10 minutes away and Canillejas (Line 5) about 20 minutes. On event days an EMT special bus links the Canillejas interchange with the stadium, starting two hours before the event and running until 90 minutes after it, at the normal fare.
  4. EMT buses 167 and SE721 and interurban lines 286, 288 and 289 stop at the station; LaLiga's sheet gives lines 38, 140 and E2 as the closest on match days.

Driving and parking

Don't drive to a match. The stadium car parks are for season-ticket holders and people with a parking ticket, and CRTM's free park-and-ride at the station is free only on days without an event.

Bags and documents

Suitcases, pushchairs and large travel luggage are not allowed in. The club offers a left-luggage desk (consigna) on Paseo de los Colchoneros, next to the Atleti Tour & Museum entrance, but its hours, price and size limit are not published. The club publishes no universal backpack size limit: bring a small soft bag or nothing.

Documents: The club's public rules do not name an ID document, but spectators must cooperate with identification and search. Carry your passport or national ID card with the ticket on your phone.
