Getting back at night

Metro A runs until about 23:30 (last departure from the terminals) Monday to Thursday and until 01:30 on Fridays; ATAC does not publish a match-night extension for ordinary games, but it did run all metro lines until 01:30 for the Coppa Italia final. After the metro closes the night buses follow the same routes. Tram 2 and the bus lines take you to Flaminio, Lepanto or Ottaviano.

Match ends at 23:00Most Serie A evening games kick off at 20:45 and end around 22:40, so you normally reach Flaminio before 23:30. If the match ends at 23:00 or later on a Monday to Thursday, the last Metro A trains leave the terminals at 23:30 and you may miss them: go straight to tram 2 or a bus to Flaminio, Lepanto or Ottaviano and, if the metro has gone, take the night bus that replaces Metro A (NMA). On Fridays the metro runs until 01:30. The roads around the Foro Italico are crowded and can be closed as the crowd leaves, so leave a margin.

A Flaminio (Piazzale Flaminio) → Anagnina (via Termini) / Battistini not published RomaMobilità states that the last metro trains from the terminals leave at 23:30 on Mondays; the same close applies Tuesday to Thursday (inferred, as only Monday is named). The time at Flaminio itself is not published, so it is a little after the terminal departure. Not published for match nights. [source]

Queues at the station

No official queue figure was found. The Foro Italico is cut off from traffic and fans funnel onto tram 2 and the Flaminio and Lepanto metro stations, so expect a long wait for the first trams. Walking to Lepanto or Ottaviano and boarding there is a way out of the crush.

If you miss it

Use the night bus that replaces Metro A (NMA) or the other night routes shown on ATAC's night-network map, or call a taxi on 060609 or with the Chiama Taxi app. Do not wait at the Foro Italico: walk to Flaminio, Lepanto or Ottaviano to find the night buses and taxis.

How a visitor gets a ticket

General sale

For ordinary Serie A games a visitor buys online from the club's own ticket office once general sale opens (AS Roma through its MyASR account, Lazio through Vivaticket), up to four tickets per transaction. Season-ticket holders get a presale on some matches, and the away sector and derby have extra conditions (a fidelity card or residence rules). Every ticket carries a name and you must show ID at the gate.

Roma tickets are digital only (screenshots do not work) and Lazio tickets are checked against an ID at the gate. Name changes are never allowed in Lazio's away sector, and for derbies and risk matches the authorities and the clubs add restrictions. A ticket bought from anyone other than the club will not get you through the ID check.

Official channels only

We never link unofficial resellers: tickets bought there are cancelled at the gate, and in the UK reselling football tickets without the club’s authorisation is a criminal offence.

Getting there

Public transport

There is no metro station at the ground. The usual route is Metro A to Piazzale Flaminio and then tram 2 to its last stop, Piazza Mancini, next to the Foro Italico. About 20 bus and tram lines serve the area, and extra runs are added on big nights.

  1. Metro A to Flaminio, then tram 2 to Piazza Mancini (last stop). Lines 61, 160 and 490 also stop at Piazzale Flaminio.
  2. Buses to the Foro Italico area: 2, 23, 31, 32, 53, 69, 70, 89, 168, 200, 201, 226, 280, 301, 446, 628, 910, 911 and 982. Lines 301 and 32 connect with Metro A at Lepanto and Ottaviano.
  3. On match days the authorities can close streets near the stadium, so bus routes may change on the day and there can be delays as fans arrive and leave. Check atac.roma.it.

Driving and parking

Do not drive to the Foro Italico on a match day. Wide-area parking bans start in the early afternoon around the stadium, and the authorities close roads as fans arrive.

Taxi and ride-hailing apps

Rome's single taxi number is 060609, and the Chiama Taxi 060609 app does the same job. Book it before the match ends or walk to one of the taxi points around the stadium.

Bags and documents

AS Roma says luggage is not allowed in the stadium and there is nowhere to leave it. Power banks, helmets, lighters and e-cigarettes are also prohibited. No backpack size is published.

Documents: You need a valid match ticket and a valid identity document (passport or national ID card) to enter. Lazio checks every spectator, minors included. Tickets are personal; name changes follow each club's own procedure and are never allowed for away-sector tickets (Lazio).

Prati / Ottaviano Ottaviano is on Metro A and is a stop for buses to the Foro Italico (line 32); it is also close to Lepanto for line 301.
Roma Termini Main rail station and the Leonardo Express terminus; Metro A runs from here to Flaminio with no change, and the night bus for Metro A also calls here.
